Mathew Carpenter of Wedgewood Homes comments on the idea of "Rabbit-Hutch" Britain, and whether this is a viable solution to the housing shortage:

"Although building micro homes is an innovative contribution towards combating the housing shortage, it cannot work in isolation. We need reforms to the land and planning systems to make things simpler and quicker for SME housebuilders like Wedgewood Homes to be able to deliver. This market will always need a range of homes to match the range of house hunters, which is why as well as small homes of 76 sq m, we need new homes big enough for families and upsizers. Choice is the keyword here, and quicker land release and planning systems are the biggest catalysts to achieve this."
