Settlements in Benenden can be
traced back to the 7th century,
although the village found notable
prosperity in the 14th century due to
its part in the Weald’s cloth and iron
industries. As a result, the village
features many legacy buildings,
including the Old Smock Mill,
the Old Manor House, Pullington
Barn, Apple Trees, The Freight and
Pympne Manor, which create a
picture-postcard documentation
of life in bygone eras.
